How to configure Lightspeed L series POS connection to Countr

This article outlines how to connect your Lightspeed L-Series Restaurant POS to the Countr platform. Doing so extends the capabilities of your POS, enabling you to add (among others) Obur mobile ordering for table-service, pickup and delivery, Self-Service Kiosks, Customer Information Screens, Kitchen Display Systems, more payment methods and so on.

Pre-requisites:

Before starting, please ensure you have access to:

  • Countr back-office username and password, and

  • Lightspeed back-office username and password.

If you are an Obur customer, the Countr username and password will be provided by your sales contact.

Connecting Countr to Lightspeed:

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE ACTION - ANY EXISTING PRODUCTS OR CATEGORIES IN COUNTR WILL BE REPLACED BY THOSE FROM YOUR LIGHTSPEED RESTAURANT.

  1. Log into your Countr dashboard and from the left menu click 'Account -> Integrations'

  2. Choose 'Lightspeed L Series' from this list

  3. Next, choose 'Connect Countr/Obur to Lightspeed L-Series'

  4. Enter your Lightspeed back-office credentials and click 'Sign In'

  5. After sign-in, you will be asked to Accept the Countr connection

  6. After accepting the connection, you will be redirected back to the Countr back-office dashboard.

Your basic Lightspeed connection is now complete, and your products, categories, floorplans and tables will automatically be imported into Countr

Configuring Lightspeed to receive and print new orders:

In your Lightspeed back-office, there are a few changes that need to be made in order for Countr/Obur to send orders into your Lightspeed system:

First, Log into your Lightspeed Restaurant back-office / manager dashboard

Set Payment Method:

Go to Payments -> Payment Types in your left menu
- Click on 'Add Payment'
- Name the new payment 'Online' [Note that the payment name must be exactly this, including the capital 'O' at the start of the word 'Online']
- Choose 'Type': 'Card', and select 'Auto Print'
- Leave 'Auto Finalize' unselected.
- Unselect 'Restaurant POS app' in visibility to ensure this payment type doesn't appear in your POS
- Click on 'Ok'

Configure iPad device general settings:

Go to Devices -> Restaurant App Settings in your left menu

- Click on the profile for your restaurant iPad


- Scroll down to 'General Settings'
- If 'Disable Device Sleep' is not selected, your iPad will be able to go into sleep mode - this means that online orders received while it is sleeping will not be automatically printed
- Under 'Online Orders', set 'Accept and finalize incoming online orders' to 'Automatically accept and finalize'
- If desired, you can also enable an audio alert each time a new online pickup ro delivery order is received by choosing one of the options under 'Alert sound for new takeout/delivery orders'

Configure iPad device print settings:

Go to Devices -> Restaurant App Settings in your left menu

- Click on the profile for your restaurant iPad

- Scroll down to 'Printer Settings'
- Ensure 'Print when finalizing receipt' is selected to automatically print online order receipts
- Ensure 'Print bar and kitchen when finalizing' is selected to automatically print online orders to the bar and/or kitchen

You are now ready to accept online orders directly into your Lightspeed POS.

Replicating changes from Lightspeed to Countr:

Lightspeed does not provide webhooks for updates of your restaurant data, so changes made in your Lightspeed back-office need to be manually synchronised with Countr. To do so, after you have made the changes on Lightspeed:

  1. Log into your Countr dashboard and from the left menu click 'Account -> Integrations'

  2. Choose 'Lightspeed L Series' from this list

  3. Click on 'ALREADY CONNECTED - resync by clicking here'

Your Lightspeed restaurant data will be reimported to Countr.
